Department Summary

The Doctor of Pharmacy program, established in 2011, is part of the UNT System College of Pharmacy and Health Professions at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNT Health). UNT Health comprises four colleges: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Pharmacy and Health Professions, the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, and the College of Nursing. Located in Fort Worth's vibrant Cultural District, UNT Health is one of the fastest-growing academic health science centers in Texas. The university enrolls approximately 2,700 graduate and professional students across programs in medicine, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, nutrition, lifestyle health sciences, and public health. Position Overview

The Department of Pharmacotherapy at the UNT System College of Pharmacy and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (rank commensurate with qualifications and experience).

The successful candidate will serve as a faculty member who advances the mission of the College through excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical service, and professional engagement. The faculty member will possess expertise and/or relevant experience in the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and other emerging healthcare technologies in contemporary pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery.

The successful candidate will integrate these areas of expertise into teaching, scholarship, and professional activities while preparing future pharmacists to effectively, critically, and responsibly utilize technology-enabled solutions in patient care and healthcare delivery. The faculty member will also contribute to the continued evolution of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum by incorporating concepts related to AI and emerging healthcare technologies that support contemporary and future pharmacy practices.

The Department seeks candidates from any area of clinical pharmacy practice. Clinical practice expectations, including site placement and responsibilities, will be individualized based on the successful candidate’s experience and expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas.
  • Clinical experience in pharmacy practice; area of practice specialization is open.
  • Demonstrated expertise and/or applied experience in the practical utilization of AI, digital health technologies, health informatics, healthcare analytics, clinical decision support systems, or related technologies in healthcare delivery.
    Strong interpersonal, communication skills.
  • Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of pharmacotherapy, contemporary pharmacy practice, and technology-enabled healthcare delivery.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, digital health, healthcare analytics, and emerging healthcare technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency training, fellowship training, or equivalent advanced clinical experience.
  • Board certification in a pharmacy specialty area.
  • Experience applying AI and digital health technologies within direct patient care, ambulatory care, acute care, health-system pharmacy, population health, medication-use systems, or other pharmacy practice settings.
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, ethical, and governance frameworks relevant to the implementation of AI and emerging healthcare technologies.
  • Experience developing educational content related to AI literacy, healthcare innovation, digital health, informatics, or technology-enabled patient care, or emerging healthcare technologies.
  • Scholarly interest or record of scholarly activity related to pharmacy practice, healthcare innovation, educational technology, AI, digital health, informatics or related disciplines.
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

  • Texas Registered Pharmacist license or be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas.

Job Duties

  • Deliver and support high-quality instruction within the PharmD curriculum across professional years 1-4 (PY1-PY4), including didactic, laboratory, simulation, and experiential learning environments.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve educational content related to pharmacotherapy, clinical decision-making, and contemporary pharmacy practice.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in advancing the integration of AI, digital health technologies, healthcare analytics, and emerging healthcare technologies within the PharmD curriculum through teaching, curricular development, and educational innovation.
  • Educate student pharmacists on the responsible use, governance, and oversight of AI and emerging healthcare technologies in healthcare delivery.
  • Contribute to the continued advancement of innovative teaching and learning within the College of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
  • Contributes to a culture of scholarly excellence within the Department through research that ensures that the faculty member remains on the cutting edge of their chosen areas of research and scholarly activity relevant to the future of pharmacy.
  • Contribute to patient care, practice advancement, and experiential education through clinical practice activities.
  • Utilize emerging technologies and evidence-based approaches.
