Department Summary

The Department of Medical Education and Health Science is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The faculty member will be responsible for the development, delivery, and assessment of curriculum content within TCOM’s integrated, systems-based medical curriculum.

This position contributes to pre-clinical medical education through teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and service, in collaboration with course directors, curriculum directors, teaching faculty, and staff. The expected time commitment is approximately 0.03 FTE, inclusive of teaching and content development.

Position Overview

Deliver hematology instruction in a variety of topics in pre-clinical medical education through large class sessions, case-based scenarios, and other instructional formats. Develop, review, and update student course materials and learning resources (e.g. practice cases and questions).

Collaborate with other faculty across the curriculum to help integrate related content in basic science and clinical science domains. Engage in assessment development activities, including writing and reviewing examination questions and development of course blueprints.

Serve as an active participant in course meetings and exam development meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

• DO or MD, with board certification in the domain being taught.
• For clinically trained faculty: eligibility for or possession of an unrestricted medical license.
• Experience teaching in the curricular topic assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong foundational knowledge of general and system-based hematology.
• Ability to teach pathology concepts in an integrated, clinically relevant manner to osteopathic medical students.
• Skills in developing instructional materials and assessment items aligned with course objectives.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within interdisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to undergraduate medical education and student success.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines to support integrated education.

• Experience contributing to curriculum development and pre-clinical medical education
• Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring medical students.
• Commitment to curricular quality improvement and accreditation standards.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

• DO or MD, with board certification in the domain being taught.

Physical Requirements

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards

• No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

Varies based on teaching, assessment, and service responsibilities. This is a .03 FTE faculty are expected to work approximately 65 total hours.
