Job Summary The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for ensuring B-Metro facilities, bus stops and shelter locations, revenue and non-revenue vehicles are aesthetically pleasing to the public. The Maintenance Worker I assists with minor carpentry repairs and ground upkeep of all B-Metro facilities. Performs routine landscaping maintenance such as trimming trees, hedges, bushes, mowing lawns and other related tasks as necessary utilizing safety precautions. The employee works according to set procedures under the supervision of the Maintenance Worker II/Crew Leader and strictly adheres to all applicable state and local laws, regulations, safety rules, departmental policies and procedures. |

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills • Operates hand and power tools such as trimmers, vacuum sweepers, outdoor handheld power equipment and mowers. Safely operates tools and equipment in all types of weather or conditions. |
Minimum Education & Experience High school graduation or GED, or sufficient education to read and write with no experience. Six months of work related experience preferred. |
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Minimal judgment; instructions, once established and defined, normally allow the job to be accomplished without direct and/or constant supervision; mostly routine work requiring that employee recognize obvious problems.

Responsibility for Equipment & Property
Responsible for assigned equipment/property used outside of office; use of a City vehicle.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to outdoor elements (several times per week).
