Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Sports Park Manager, the Hospitality Supervisor is to support with oversight of the operations, facilities, programs, safety and service-related success at the Brownsville Sports Park in regard to contracts, leases, sponsorships, and concessions. Hires, trains and supervises food and beverage attendants. Responds to public inquiries or concerns about facilities. Provide leadership and quality management of Sports Park services and offerings.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills

• Responsible for financial, operational, safety and service-related success at the Brownsville Sports Park.
• Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities, Revenue Streams, contracts, leases and front line staff and operations.
• Ensure that customer satisfaction is maximized by maintaining the highest level of safety & service thresholds and initiatives that are aligned with the expectations of our various clients.

• Ensure internal meetings (Pre-Shifts or “Huddles”) are held each shift either personally or through Shift Leads.
• Assist with the management and development of the BSP team to accomplish annual and periodic goals/initiatives, while embodying and using the City of Brownsville culture as a guideline.
• Maintain facilities and equipment and ensure they are well-maintained.
• Actively participate in the recruiting and on-boarding process for prospective employees, contracts, and clients.
• Ensure all safety and training initiatives are rolled out to new and existing employees.
• Report and address all safety concerns.
• Identify high potential revenue opportunities related to scope of work for BSP revenue goals and supports team to achieve individual and team sales and targets.
• Responsible for financial management, ensuring adherence to budget and revenue enhancements as it relates to staffing, scheduling and operational expenses.
• Daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial and operational reports as required.
• Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree (no experience), or associate's degree plus two years of experience, or high school graduation or GED plus four years of experience.

Special Certifications & Licenses

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Independence & Judgement

Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems such as bad grammar, type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.

Initiative & Ingenuity

General guidelines: requires a lot of interpretation and non-standard responses to varied situations; have to figure out where to go for answers (not all sitting there in procedures manual); must take multiple factors into account; some control over priorities.

Supervisory & Responsibility

Regularly assigns and monitors the work for three or more employees; has knowledge of long-term plans and goals for the department.

Financial Responsibility

Takes money (fines, fees, etc.), gives receipts, does own balancing; no decision making; authorizes payment of accounts payable based on matching invoices; handles petty cash; makes purchases over $200.

Level & Frequency of Outside Contact

Frequent contact with the public or other organizations; interactions may require obtaining cooperation of people; courtesy and tact are required when dealing with moderately difficult or sensitive issues.

Physical Demands

Office job with little or occasional light physical effort involving walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.

Responsibility for Equipment & Property

Responsible for use of equipment/property such as office equipment, supplies, etc., which are used in office, use of City vehicle.

Working Conditions

Fair inside or outside conditions; exposure to disagreeable conditions is brief or otherwise insignificant; space problems; only occasional situations that place the employee in a stressful environment.
