Pay Range: Targeted salary $75,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., may include some weekends

Position Introduction: The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) makes connections and creates experiences with the next generation of Sooners by supporting domestic and international freshman, transfer, and concurrent students throughout the application and decision process. Our team operates from Norman and across the state, nation, and world, partnering with faculty, staff, parents, counselors, and communities to provide guidance and resources to prospective students. Our goal is to build a vibrant OU community by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement, and community experiences. Scope of Position/Essential Duties: Oversees the efforts to identify, recruit, evaluate and enroll prospective students and directs daily operations.

  • Assists with applying and monitoring academic policy and standards to the student admission process.  Including monitoring Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education policies and ensuring procedures are in compliance with policy.
  • Provides oversight and coordination of the student admissions process. Interacts with departments to develop and maintain an enrollment management system.  
  • Manages budget and staff, including hiring, firing, training, conducting performance appraisals, disciplining, delegating tasks, overseeing work, and development.
  • Presents information to various prospective students and other groups regarding The University of Oklahoma, higher education, financial aid and other related topics.
  • Maintains student administrative records.
  • Operations:
    • Coordinate 50+ team members engaging in application processing and holistic review of applications.
    • Manage the temporary employee team that assists with application processing.
    • Coordinate printing admission mailings including decision notification systems. Supervise team member responsible for daily admission mailings. 
    • Conduct annual training for individuals processing admissions applications.
    • Manage the communication and document collection for students reviewed by the Admissions Review Committee.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Director of Strategic Technology to ensure our admissions technology matches with needed business practices, and to create operational efficiencies in all admissions processes.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Recruitment teams in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.
  • Serves on committees and performs special projects.
  • Participate in professional development conferences and activities.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of student privacy laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Some travel required for recruiting.
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 60 months of related experience in higher education.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 108 months related experience. 

Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Department Preference:

  • Bachelor's degree.
