As our Health Education Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of community outreach, designing and delivering programs that empower individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge they need to prevent cancer, detect it early, and navigate care with confidence.

About the Role: Reporting to the Director of Community Outreach and Volunteer Initiatives, the Health Education Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Stephenson Cancer Center’s mission by coordinating community outreach and engagement initiatives statewide. This position works closely with mission aligned community organizations, researchers, clinicians, and volunteers to expand cancer awareness, screening, and education—especially in communities experiencing higher cancer burdens.

What You’ll Do:

Community Outreach & Engagement

• Initiate, coordinate, and evaluate cancer awareness, screening, and education initiatives across Oklahoma.
• Develop and implement community health screenings, educational programs, and outreach events—both independently and in partnership with community organizations.
• Tailor outreach efforts to meet the needs of diverse populations with higher cancer risk or limited access to care.

Community Partnership & Liaison Work

• Build and sustain positive relationships with mission aligned organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders statewide.
• Represent the Stephenson Cancer Center at community events, health fairs, and awareness activities.
• Collaborate with internal fundraising teams to identify and support community partners interested in third party fundraising events.

Program Management & Implementation

• Serve as project manager for community based cancer education, screening, and advocacy programs.
• Coordinate program development, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with clinical operations, research staff, and contracting partners.
• Support research based community interventions that translate evidence into action and reduce cancer disparities.

Community Grant Development

• Identify funding opportunities from organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
• Assist with or lead the preparation of grant proposals and ensure timely fulfillment of reporting requirements.
• Help expand sustainable, grant supported outreach programs serving communities across Oklahoma.

Volunteer & Patient Resource Support

• As needed, assist with the Cancer Center’s Volunteer and Patient Resource Program.
• Support volunteer training initiatives and help implement volunteer related program activities.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as needed to support the success of community outreach and engagement initiatives.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 36 months in health program development.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of BS Degree for a total of 84 months of experience.
