Be on the Front Lines of Research That Changes Lives: Are you passionate about research, data, and improving health outcomes? Do you enjoy working directly with people while contributing to meaningful, NIH funded studies? The Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) is seeking a Research Technician to join a dynamic team conducting cutting edge research focused on real world health behavior change.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants hands on research experience, direct participant interaction, and the chance to contribute to publications that influence public health practice.

Why This Role Is Exciting: As a Research Technician at HPRC, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for research participants and play a central role in multiple ongoing studies, including NIH funded and pilot randomized controlled trials. Our work focuses on health behavior change such as smoking cessation, alcohol use reduction, and marijuana use reduction—research that truly makes a difference.

There are ample opportunities for authorship and inclusion on research publications, making this an ideal role for early career researchers or those preparing for graduate or professional programs.

What You’ll Do: You’ll gain broad, hands on research experience across the full study lifecycle:

Participant Engagement & Data Collection

• Serve as the first point of contact for study participants
• Complete participant referrals, screening, and enrollment
• Conduct informed consent procedures
• Collect data through in person questionnaires, smartphone based surveys, tablets, and databases

Research & Data Management

• Maintain detailed logs of study activities and research procedures
• Manage both electronic and hard copy research records
• Assist with construction of tests or study instruments

Data Analysis & Interpretation

• Conduct data analyses and assist in interpretation of findings
• Discuss results and conclusions with the Principal Investigator
• Support preparation of study outcomes and research summaries

Literature & Reporting

• Conduct literature searches to support study development and analysis
• Prepare descriptive, analytical, and evaluative reports
• Contribute to manuscripts and materials submitted for publication

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and colleagues across projects
• Participate in research meetings and present findings to fellow researchers and the Principal Investigator

General Research Support

• Perform various duties as needed to ensure the success of ongoing research studies

Required Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, or other health related field. 
• No experience required.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

None.

Department Preferences:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health or other Healthcare field
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge and experience in research methods including clinical trial data collection procedures and IRB Processes.
