Position Introduction:

Join OU Information Technology and be part of a team that advances the University of Oklahoma's purpose: We Change Lives. Our work supports student success, research innovation, operational excellence, and meaningful service to our university community. If you are driven to solve complex problems, strengthen critical systems, and use technology to create lasting impact across One OU, we invite you to bring your talent, curiosity, and commitment to a team where your work matters.

Are you a highly motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing, and service-focused environment? The University of Oklahoma's Learning Spaces team is seeking an AV Specialist to help create and sustain exceptional teaching and learning environments across the Norman campus. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technology work, problem-solving, and collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver reliable, high-quality AV experiences. Based on campus with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, this position plays a vital role in supporting classrooms, conference rooms, and campus-wide AV systems that faculty, staff, and students rely on every day.

What You'll Do:

As an AV Specialist, you'll be a key contributor to both daily operations and larger initiatives that keep learning spaces running at peak performance. Core responsibilities include:

  • Ensure operational continuity of AV systems across classrooms and conference spaces through proactive support and rapid troubleshooting
  • Install, maintain, and repair AV technologies, serving as a subject matter expert for system functionality and performance
  • Respond quickly and professionally to support requests, minimizing disruption to teaching and learning
  • Support and execute AV projects from planning through completion, including site surveys, coordination with vendors/contractors, and client communication
  • Develop and deliver training and documentation for both internal staff and campus users to improve service quality and consistency
  • Collaborate with the Learning Spaces team to enhance processes, expand knowledge sharing, and strengthen overall support capabilities

What Makes This Role Impactful:

You won't just be fixing equipment; you'll be directly supporting the university's academic mission. Your work ensures that instructors can teach effectively and students can learn without technical barriers. Whether you're resolving a classroom issue minutes before a lecture or coordinating a multi-room AV upgrade project, your contributions will have a visible and lasting impact.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking someone who combines technical expertise with strong customer service and teamwork skills. Successful candidates are:

  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality, reliable results
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communicators who can work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proactive problem-solvers who take ownership from start to finish

Why Join Learning Spaces?

You'll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team dedicated to innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to expand your technical skills, take on meaningful projects, and contribute to a campus-wide impact in a supportive and team-oriented environment.

If you're passionate about AV technology and ready to make a difference in higher education, we encourage you to apply and learn more.
