Position Introduction:
The Associate Athletic Trainer, Women’s Rowing, under the medical-legal supervision of the Head Team Physician and the Head Athletic Trainer/Athletics Health Care Administrator (AHCA), with direct primary responsibility for Women’s Rowing and potential secondary coverage of an additional Olympic sport as assigned, is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injury and illness within the University’s comprehensive athletic medicine program; empowered with unchallengeable authority to determine management and return to play of any ill or injured student-athlete, as the athletic trainer deems appropriate; and empowered with unchallengeable authority to cancel or modify any workout for health and safety reasons, as deemed appropriate.
Essential Functions:
Primary medical care provider with dedicated responsibility to the Women’s Rowing program and possible coverage of a secondary Olympic Sport as assigned
Emergency medicine preparedness
Develop and implement comprehensive emergency action plans
Coordinate the medical preparation of the Rowing program
Ensure supply and equipment preparedness
Preventing, recognizing, diagnosing, referring, treating, and rehabilitating injuries
Establishing criteria for safe return to practice and play and implementing the return-to-play process
Establishing and operating treatment facilities for both practice and game situations that follow national and local standards
Determining venue and activity settings requiring the on-site presence of the athletic trainer and team physician, and which require that they be available
Maintaining accurate medical records for athletes
Supervision, education, and recruitment of undergraduate student aides
Specific oversight and supervision of Certified Athletic Trainer(s) assigned to sport
Work with the Head Athletic Trainer, physicians, and other allied health care professionals to deliver quality healthcare to athletes
Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
Duties:
Injury Prevention - athlete focused and program focused with coaches
Injury/Illness Evaluation - assess acute conditions and determine plan
Injury/Illness Management - implement care & treatment plan
Documentation - maintain athlete personal medical record
Administration - as warranted tasks with professional medical staff, coaches, compliance, etc.
Athlete workout - present for organized/supervised practices and strength & conditioning
Sport Competition - attend all home and away competitions
Reports To: Head Athletic Trainer / Athletics Health Care Administrator Positions Directly Supervised: Full-time athletic trainer(s) and undergraduate staff assigned to Rowing
