Position Introduction:

In support of its mission, the university is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in the department of Institutional Research & Reporting, a group responsible for providing accurate information about OU to stakeholders of all types. This position is part of a core team responsible for institutional data set design, maintenance, and analysis. This role owns the design and integrity of our HR data sets, building custom tables and analyses to support both standard and ad hoc reporting needs. The successful candidate will perform data quality checks prior to freeze events, monitor for shifts in reporting norms or coding practices, and maintain deep subject-matter expertise across HR data, partnering closely with partner offices to track evolving coding standards and requirements. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining metadata and supporting documentation, consulting on appropriate calculation methodologies, and staying current on federal, state, and national reporting standards to ensure accurate data design. This position serves as a key troubleshooting resource, diagnosing anomalies and adapting to changes in system usage as they arise.

Essential Duties: 

• Manages master datasets, including creation, updates, commissioning, and decommissioning across enterprise systems.
• Designs and manages the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
• Advises stakeholders on data warehouse reporting requirements and revisions.
• Troubleshoots the reporting database environment and resolves complex data issues.
• Leads data integrity and normalization initiatives across institutional systems.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree 
• 48 months experience as a Data Analyst or in related field.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months data analysis, business analysis experience in lieu of the Bachelor¿s Degree for a total of 96 months experience.

Department Preferences:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Statistics or related field.
• 48 months experience in institutional research or comparable data analysis activity.
• Must be detail-oriented and have good proofreading and composition skills.
• Must be able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
• Must have advanced Excel skills, including experience with formulas and pivot tables.
• Proficient in use of SAS, SQL, or other Oracle query tool(s). Proficient in use of Snowflake.
• Must have intermediate research skills and experience with data analysis techniques.
• Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.
• Must be able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with staff.
• Must have strong initiative to solve problems.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills.
