The United World College (UWC) Scholars Program at OU supports the recruitment and retention of UWC Davis Scholars at the University of Oklahoma. Over 300 UWC Davis Scholars are enrolled at OU and represent 18 UWC campuses around the world and 100+ countries. The UWC Scholars Program staff work collaboratively with different areas of the university and the Davis United World College Program to support UWC scholars’ academic growth, student life experience and coordinate their scholarships. There are different tracks or specializations for the UWC student assistant positions. You may apply for multiple tracks or one track only. General Duties, Responsibilities and/or tasks for all UWC Student Assistants: UWC student assistants will assist with administrative and general office tasks, provide assistance and support in the UWC offices to students, serve as Student Ambassadors to prospective students, assist with UWC and International Admissions programming, preparing and packing admission boxes, managing UWC student supplies and other duties as assigned. This student position is: primarily responsible for assisting with admissions and recruitment data entry, organization, and overall data management. responsible for coordinating admissions documents and packets for admitted students with UWC staff. Responsible for coordinating with UWC graduate assistant in maintaining UWC Scholars Program supplies (stationery, school supplies, textbooks, etc.) Specific Knowledge/Skills Preferred: Attention to detail, strong written communication skills, strong organizational skills preferred. Here, we employ techniques in bacteriology, biochemistry, molecular biology, eukaryotic cell culture and genetics to define the environmental signals that cue specific OMV production by Bacteroides and discern bacterial molecules within these OMVs that influence gut homeostasis and dysbiosis during health and disease as it relates to Cdif infection. This position will involve working with Biosafety Level 2 microbes that pose a moderate potential threat to personnel or the environment. Experience with maintaining a laboratory notebook, recording and summarizing experimental results, and communicating data, hypotheses, and experimental approaches is desired.
