Job Summary

This seasonal position provides broad, hands-on experience supporting electrical and building maintenance work. Summer Helper will perform basic support tasks and duties within Utilities Electrical and Building Maintenance departments.

 

Essential Functions

Assist electricians and maintenance crews with installation, maintenance, and repair of interior and exterior lighting, outlets, switches, and basic wiring tasks under supervision.

Perform tasks such as carrying materials, site cleanup, moving and staging equipment, and assisting with demolition or renovation prep.

Assist with pulling and running cable, help mount fixtures, secure conduit, and label circuits as directed for interior and exterior projects.

Use common hand and power tools safely (training provided).

Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and work platforms under guidance.

Follow safety procedures, wear required PPE, and participate in safety briefings.

Help with preventative maintenance tasks and basic troubleshooting under supervision.

Complete simple job documentation or checklists as required.

 

Other Functions

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Basic electrical training (or equivalent shop coursework/experience).

Comfortable with physical, hands-on work (standing, bending, lifting up to [e.g., 50 lbs, climbing ladders).

Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions and safety protocols.

Able to work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.

Basic tool familiarity or prior shop/industrial coursework.

Parental permission as required for under-18 workers.

 

Preferred Qualifications

OSHA 10 or similar safety course, or willingness to complete.

Valid driver’s license (if required for travel between sites).

Interest in electrical or facilities trades and willingness to learn.

 

Additional Details

Mixed indoor/outdoor work, exposure to jobsite noise and typical construction/facilities environments.

Use of ladders, lifts, and manual handling expected.

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor environments, and requires frequent lifting, bending, tool use or equipment use. May involve work in confined spaces or at heights.

 

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm

 

Salary Information

Hourly Rate: $17-$20
