Your opportunity
We are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to support the successful delivery of a major data centre project, driving the next wave of digital and AI-enabled growth. This is a career-defining opportunity to contribute to a complex, high-value project and play a key role in its successful delivery through construction, commissioning and handover.
Working closely with operational leaders and project teams, you'll drive safety performance, strengthen workforce capability and influence a positive safety culture across the project. You'll provide practical leadership, support organisational safety initiatives and help develop the systems, processes and behaviours that underpin safe and successful project delivery.
We're looking for someone who can challenge the status quo, influence change and build strong relationships at all levels. Someone who can see the bigger picture, while remaining hands-on and focused on driving positive outcomes for both people and project performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with operational leaders and People & Culture teams on workforce planning, leadership development, employee wellbeing, rehabilitation and organisational culture initiatives.
- Leading initiatives that improve how safety is understood, applied and embedded into everyday work.
- Leading the design and continuous improvement of safety leadership, training and competency frameworks to support workforce development and organisational capability
- Supporting workforce health, wellbeing and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Providing advice on safety systems, governance, compliance and risk management.
- Leading investigations into significant incidents and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
- Driving workforce consultation and engagement activities to improve participation and safety outcomes.
- Supporting return-to-work and rehabilitation programs.
- Using data and insights to identify trends, manage risk and drive continuous improvement.
- Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and standards relating to safety and workforce capability.
- Providing strategic advice to leaders on safety performance, organisational capability and culture.
- Supporting leaders through workforce planning, capability development and performance improvement initiatives.
- Partnering with operational leaders and People & Culture teams to strengthen workforce capability, employee wellbeing, engagement and safety culture.
What You'll Bring
- Health and safety leadership experience gained on major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-risk environments where safety is critical.
- Strong working knowledge of safety legislation, risk management and industry best practice.
- The ability to earn the respect of project teams and influence positive behaviours on site.
- Experience coaching leaders and helping teams improve safety performance.
- Strong investigation skills and a practical approach to solving problems.
- A track record of improving systems, processes and safety outcomes.
- The confidence to challenge, ask questions and have the difficult conversations when required.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others.
