The Opportunity

The Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC) is a leading tertiary centre for Jewish studies and a hub for Jewish intellectual life in Australia. Its research and teaching span key issues including Jewish and non-Jewish relations, the Holocaust and other genocides, Israel’s place in Jewish life, and contemporary culture. The Centre brings together world-renowned scholars, hosts international visitors, and delivers a strong program of research, teaching and public engagement.

In this role, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will contribute to the Monash Initiative for Rapid Research into Antisemitism (MIRRA), undertaking high-quality research to better understand and respond to antisemitism in contemporary society. The role involves delivering focused research projects, engaging with government, community and academic stakeholders, and contributing to evidence-based solutions, including in relation to emerging drivers such as artificial intelligence.

As the successful candidate, you will hold a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or closely related field, with a demonstrated track record of refereed research publications and strong analytical and manuscript preparation skills. You will bring the ability to solve complex problems using sound judgement, innovation and well-developed diagnostic expertise, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will be highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, and will work effectively in a collaborative, collegiate environment. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of confidentiality and information handling, be proficient in relevant software and systems, and show a genuine interest in engaging with communities and applying innovative or digital research methods, including an awareness of the societal impacts of emerging technologies.
