Overview:
The Principal Policy Officer Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board Secretariat is responsible for supporting and contributing to the development, management, and delivery of an effective secretariat function for the Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board. The Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board is an independent statutory body established by the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021 and is a fundamental safeguard in providing oversight and governance. For the Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board to meet legislated requirements, functions and undertake its duty to monitor compliance with the Act, a high level of administrative support is required.
The Principal Policy Officer will contribute to the delivery of the following Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board activities:
- Governance functions:
- Monitoring voluntary assisted dying activity under the Act
- Preparing monthly case reviews
- Compiling monthly, six monthly, annual and ad-hoc reports
- Operational functions:
- Liaising with the Births, Death and Marriages Registrar
- Notifying contact person (upon death)
- Management of referrals
- Cancellation of South Australian permits
- Administrative functions:
- Establishing and facilitating meetings in a timely manner
- Managing membership
- Collating forms and data
- Acting as an inter-agency liaison

Criminal History Screening Requirement
- A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
