Job Summary: The Intramural Official supports the Sports Program Staff. Provides officiating and score keeping support for a variety of intramural and club team sports during the 2025-2026 academic year, including Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Dodgeball.
Additional Department Summary: University Recreation employs over 350 students each semester in customer service, programming, and operational support positions across all UREC facilities, including the Student Recreation Center, Witt Student Activity Center, Outdoor Pool Complex, and Aquatic Center. We're looking for personable and responsible individuals to engage patrons of all ages in a variety of recreational activities and services.

Free training will be provided for each sport. Officiates and keeps score during intramural contests. Assists with setting up and breaking down equipment. Verifies participant eligibility. Follows UREC Competitive Sports rules and guidelines, including equipment use and dress code. Attends all officials training clinics. Provides a friendly, upbeat, and customer service-oriented environment at all times. Competently acts in a designated role in Emergency Action Plan. Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student enrolled and continuing as a part-time or full-time Undergraduate or Graduate Student for 2025-2026 academic year. Must be available to work 10-15 hours per week. Ability to work flexible evening hours; games typically take place Sunday-Thursday from 5pm to 11pm. Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs. Must be able walk, run, and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in various weather conditions. Must attend all required and training and successfully complete rules test for various team sports.
Skills and Knowledge: Self-motivation and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Willingness to learn and accept direction/feedback from peers and supervisors. An understanding of sports rules, and department policies and procedures. Leadership and public relations skills. Decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications: Sports officiating experience.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
