In pursuit of excellence and to align with the University’s mission and strategic plan, this position will help to steward the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School's resources through management of the school's budget and extensive financial analysis and reporting, which will enhance the Graziadio Dean and leadership's ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. Serving under the central finance department of the University, this is an ideal role for an individual seeking to develop a broad skill set in budgeting and financial reporting, while also building strong business relationships with both internal and external constituents.

Duties

  • Collaborate with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Graziadio to ensure accurate implementation of the school's annual budget, execute financial analysis for revenue and expense trends, and prepare presentations and reports for internal and external audiences. 
  • Work closely with Graziadio department heads to provide information and insight related to departmental budgets and provide guidance on both personnel costs--including course load analysis, submitting Labor Distribution Changes (LDC), etc. and general expense spending. 
  • Assist faculty and staff by answering finance related questions and providing training on finance systems. 
  • Ensure proper use of donor and non-donor designated accounts, optimizing the best balance of institutional and school funds for student aid, faculty, and non-personnel expenses. 
  • Complete the monthly forecast for the school, projecting final revenue and expenses for both on-ground and online programs. 
  • Submit budget adjustment requests (BARs) in a timely and proactive manner to address budget errors across the school. 
  • Uphold University financial policies and communicate any changes to staff and faculty. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting, finance, business); Minimum of two years experience in a finance environment. Experience with analytical tools; excellent critical thinking skills; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to juggle multiple tasks; discretion in handling confidential information Strong PC skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Docs/Sheets. 

Preferred: Three years of experience in a finance environment involving general accounting, financial reporting, and/or budget management. Experience working with an EPM or ERP system, such as Oracle's PBCS or PeopleSoft.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position that may be eligible for remote or hybrid work in accordance with the University Policy Manual.

Expected Pay Range: $69,300 - $77,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
