The Student Services Advisor is to serve as front-line representative for the OneStop department, in the Office of the Registrar. This position assists students with registration, add/drop period, New Student Orientation, administrative concerns, questions, and procedures. Will act as a liaison between students and the following areas: Financial Assistance, Housing & Residential Life, Convocation, Student Accounts, Public Safety, Student Employment, Student Health/Counseling, International Programs, and International Student Services.

Duties

  • Serve as a front-line team member at Onestop, to deliver exceptional support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Address inquiries and collaborate with various campus departments, and ensure excellent customer service. Assist with student registration, advising, payments, record requests, verification services, ID cards, diploma services, and any emerging issues. Act as a liaison between students, parents, and university departments as needed. Uphold and understand FERPA regulations at all times.
  • Deliver high volume email and phone support to all individuals contacting our office. Ensure responses are timely, accurate, and conducted with the highest level of professionalism. 
  • Process paperwork such as petitions, transcript requests, student payments, enrollment verifications, etc. Maintain and file all records within internal portal once documents have been processed and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times.
  • Handle a diverse range of tasks that may vary throughout the day, including addressing immediate concerns, providing guidance on various services, and adapting to shifting priorities. Your key duty is to offer flexible and responsive support to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and effectively, while maintaining a high standard of service across all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree; PC and software knowledge; demonstrated ability to correspond in written form and verbally; professional writing skills; excel at providing quality service; enjoy extensive contact with people; possess positive and pleasant interpersonal skills; able to multi-task; able to see and act beyond the immediate need; uphold mission of the university; follow policies; must understand the purpose behind the policies and constantly strive to better the way the policies serve our constituents. Must be able to use office equipment, including personal computer, fax, and photocopy machine, telephone, Microfiche readers, scanners and other office machines and equipment as tasks require.

Preferred: Two years' experience in student services; experience within University service areas; customer service training; experience with using PeopleSoft web-based student information system for inquiry.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $23.07 - $24.03 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
