A Specialist for Moving and Setup is responsible for facilitating and managing University property, furniture, and equipment. This includes placing and arranging equipment and furniture for University moving projects and event setups. The specialist processes all surplus inventory items in the Warehouse, utilizing a computerized inventory control system to confirm receipts, issue stock, and maintain accurate records.

The specialist processes surplus inventory at the Calabasas warehouse and assists with University event setups. This includes placing and arranging furniture and overseeing the services of outside vendors hired to support the events. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

The Specialist, Moving and Setup also operates Warehouse forklifts and other material handling equipment to perform duties efficiently and safely.

Duties

  • Provide moving services for University business-related moves. Moves are conducted utilizing professional equipment required to safely and securely handle University furnishings and equipment. Material Handling Staff are also available for picking up material for shipping, via common carrier, from the Central Receiving dock on campus.
  • Maintain and file all paperwork related to Moving and Set Up email requests/requisitions and related Google Calendar events.
  • Assist Set Up Crew with related tasks.
  • Process telephone inquiries and assist customer problem resolution. Process and facilitate freight problems and claims. Assist Mail Services as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold the Living Pepperdine standards in day-to-day work; participate in Daily Line-Ups and be able to articulate how the standards tie to daily work.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and serve the University and community with a positive attitude.
  • Approach work as a service ambassador to the community.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: High School diploma or professional schooling of two-plus years would be beneficial. One to two years experience in one or more of the following: Warehouse Stock processing; Professional Delivery; Moving furniture and or equipment beneficial. Demonstrable experience with Material Handling equipment required. Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs. over a short distance. Ability to demonstrate good English verbal and written skills required. Knowledge of safety standards in a materials handling environment beneficial. Full manual dexterity is required for the operation of University trucks/vehicles and material handling equipment. University-owned and operated trucks, vans, forklifts, pallet jacks, and computers.

Preferred: Good driving record with current California class "B" driver's license. Ability to work in a noisy environment and drive for long periods. Good at working in a team environment. Forklift certified. Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat. General understanding of Google Mail and Calendar.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
