The Assistant Director of Graduate Employment and Employer Engagement plans, manages, and implements the strategies for graduate employment, with a particular focus on the most recent Caruso School of Law (CSOL) graduating class. This role develops and executes employer engagement to provide opportunities for graduates. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Alumni Affairs and Career Development Office to meet CSOL’s important employment goals. This role also manages the Graduate Employment Team’s comprehensive annual reporting of graduates’ employment outcomes to the American Bar Association and the National Association for Law Placement.
Duties
- Develop direct relationships and contacts, and foster effective outreach programs and working relationships with employers, alumni, faculty, staff, and other placement professionals, utilizing virtual, telephone, and in-person appointments.
- Directly place recent graduates with employers, driving excellence in law school's graduate employment outcomes relative to peer and aspirational schools.
- Lead the weekly collection and reporting of data on graduates' employment outcomes, exhibiting strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Counsel recent graduates and alumni in career planning, job search strategies, resume preparation, interviewing skills, and networking in the diverse legal market and other professional career interest areas, utilizing virtual, telephone, and in-person appointments.
- Work closely with the Alumni Affairs Office of Alumni Relations and utilize LinkedIn and other professional resources to cultivate and enhance employer and alumni relationships.
- Encourage ongoing positive communications and relationships between students, alumni, employers, and CSOL.
- Lead and strategize with CSOL school administrators, faculty, and staff regarding above duties.
- Support and contribute to the law school's mission and overall goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor, LLM, MBA, bachelor’s degree, or commensurate work experience.
- One to two years of legal practice experience or work for a legal employer in relevant areas.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, public speaking, and communication skills; Driven, results-oriented outlook with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and metrics; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a population of students, staff, alumni, and administrators with different backgrounds; Meticulous with strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong technology skills with ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other programs and applications.
Preferred:
- Legal employment market and recruiting expertise and previous experience with career counseling, marketing, workshop planning, or administration.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to take an energetic and creative approach to preparing students and graduates for professional opportunities and marketing them to potential employers while maintaining a student-centered, positive attitude.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $78,300 - $87,000 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
