About the role
The Senior Information Security Officer leads the protection of organisational data and systems and drives the security architecture, compliance, and cyber awareness across the Office of Sport
In this role, you will:

Design, implement and maintain robust security architecture to protect data and systems from loss, theft, or tampering.

Promote a culture of cyber security awareness across the organisation through education and engagement.

Conduct regular security reviews and compliance testing to ensure adherence to NSW Government and internal cyber security policies.

Investigate and report on security events, using insights to refine practices and reduce future risks.

Review changes to system environments to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.

Stay current with evolving security standards and technologies to inform strategic digital infrastructure decisions.

About you
We’re seeking a strategic leader to lead our Cyber Security function—someone who can set the vision, guide implementation, and ensure the protection of our digital assets. This role oversees one direct report and is responsible for driving security architecture, incident response, compliance, and a culture of cyber awareness across the organisation.
You will bring:

Proven experience designing and implementing best practice security architecture that is fit for purpose and enables effective risk mitigation.

Strong investigative skills and the ability to manage and report on security incidents.

Deep understanding of cyber security standards, compliance, and risk management.

Ability to influence behavioural change and promote cyber awareness across diverse teams (frontline and office-based teams).

Advanced communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences with varied levels of technical competence.

Commitment to continuous learning and staying ahead of emerging threats and technologies.
