CAS Research Assistant Instructional Student Assistant Pool AY 26-27

POSITION

The Department of Child and Adolescent Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its CAS Research Assistant Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate students to work as Undergraduate Research Assistants with various faculty members in the CAS department.

Under direct supervision, CAS Research Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions.

RAs will work with Principal Investigator (PI - faculty member) on their research. This may include completing literature research, creating summaries of articles, data entry, and organizing drafts for submission of completed work with the PI. 

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student at CSUF in good academic standing.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work
  • Must have an excellent command of English – both oral and written
  • Be able to follow directions, show initiative, be reliable
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Speak, Read, and Write English and Mandarin Chinese at a level appropriate for the position (Working with Dr. Joyce Lin)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in the Child and Adolescent Studies department in good academic standing at CSUF
  • Students with Federal Work Study award

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
