Position Summary
A part-time Technician B position is available in a federally funded lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. We conduct translational research and drug development in the field of hard-to-treat ophthalmic diseases including age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease and inherited forms of retinal degeneration.
Responsibilities
- Manage mouse colony, oversee mouse husbandry, and assist in executing experiments using mouse models of retinal degeneration.
- Conduct biochemical assays according to established protocols.
- Support the execution of microbiological experiments involving molecular cloning.
- Keep detailed records and present collected data effectively.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Require a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent in education and experience.
- Experience with in vitro multi-well assays.
- Experience with Mammalian cell culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in biochemistry, pharmacology, or any related field.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Candidates with experience in carrying out in vivo experiments in mouse animal models are strongly preferred.
- Expertise with mouse animal models.
