About the Opportunity

As a Principal Business Intelligence Analyst, AI Enablement, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Flight Centre Travel Group’s BI capability into an AI‑accelerated operating model. You will design the semantic foundations and governance that allow AI assistants to deliver trusted, business‑ready insights at scale. This is a senior, high‑impact role partnering closely with Finance, Marketing, Pricing, Operations, and Data & Insights leadership. Your work will turn AI experimentation into enterprise capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and govern enterprise semantic models, data relationships, and reusable context artefacts that act as the source of truth for AI‑powered self‑service and Power BI reporting
  • Lead delivery of priority AI initiatives, including MCP integration with Power BI semantic models and Databricks Genie space design and curation
  • Build and institutionalise domain‑specific Claude skills and reusable context packages using deep knowledge of FCTG data models
  • Partner with senior business leaders to translate ambiguous, non‑routine questions into robust analytical frameworks
  • Lead cold‑start discovery where limited historical patterns exist and AI requires curated FCTG‑specific context
  • Define and enforce AI output validation and quality assurance methodologies
  • Hold accountability for the accuracy, governance, and compliance of AI‑generated analytical outputs
  • Design technical solutions and direct AI‑assisted build processes, critically reviewing outputs for correctness and semantic fidelity
  • Collaborate with BI peers, Data Engineering, and AI teams to align models, context, and validation protocols
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and accessible work environment where all Flighties feel welcomed, respected, and supported to thrive.

Experience and Qualification

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a BI Analyst, Data Analyst, or Reporting Analyst
  • Advanced, current SQL experience, including complex semantic modelling, row‑level security, and Power BI dataset governance
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with the Databricks ecosystem, including notebooks, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Genie (or equivalent)
  • Recent hands‑on experience applying enterprise AI tools to BI work (e.g. Databricks Genie, MCP‑exposed Power BI models, Claude skills, Microsoft Copilot for Power BI, or ChatGPT Enterprise)
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous stakeholder requests into sound analytical frameworks
  • Exposure to AI governance, output validation, or analytical quality assurance frameworks (highly regarded)
  • Degree qualification in Business, Commerce, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, or Finance (desirable)
