About the Role

Empower autistic individuals and people with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live independently in their own homes, supporting those who may be reluctant to engage by taking a proactive, curious, and person-centred approach.

You will build trusting relationships, respectfully encouraging engagement while balancing each person’s preferences and right to choice, identifying meaningful opportunities that promote independence, wellbeing, and personal goals.

Working largely independently with individuals in their own flats, you’ll use patience, resilience, and excellent communication skills to provide tailored support, from daily living tasks to accessing community activities, while nurturing confidence, friendships, and new experiences, always ensuring individuals can live life their way with the reassurance of a supportive team behind you.

Duties could include:

  • Provide personalised, person-centred support tailored to individual needs, balancing encouragement with respect for choice and preferences.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with individuals who may be reluctant to engage, using a proactive and curious approach.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement, helping people to develop confidence, independence, and achieve goals at their own pace.
  • Identify and create opportunities for engagement, including community activities, hobbies, and social connections.
  • Support with daily living tasks, including light household duties and practical day-to-day activities.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities, including accurately checking and digitally recording medication and personal finances in line with policy.
  • Bring fresh ideas and a creative mindset to continuously improve ways of working and enhance the support provided.
  • Work independently within individual flats, using initiative, while remaining connected to a supportive team environment.

 Skills and Experience Needed

 A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.  We’re looking for people who bring:

 Pay and Pensions 

  • £25,877 FTE (£13.45 per hour)
  • Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift  - approx. 1 per week.
  • Waking night rate: 20% Enhancement from 11pm to 7am
  • Enhanced DBS which we will pay for
  • Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed
  • Pension Choices:
    • Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or,
    • Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.

Time off and Flexibility  

  • 26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 27 days after 1 years service or cash equivalent of 1 days’ annual leave.

  • Paternity Leave: 3 weeks
