    The Relief Manager position is responsible for overseeing meals in Commons, ensuring that departmental/college standards are maintained as outlined in the Dining Services Professional Guide, college handbook, sector specific expectations/policies, 2014 Food Code and Maine State / Federal liquor regulations. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, daily position placement and training, filling open shifts, pre-shift meetings, quality assurance and development of customer relations and support in other areas of the operation as needed.

    Bates College is partnering with Educate Maine to offer a registered apprenticeship program for individuals looking to gain experience and build a career in facilities maintenance as a Plumber. This is a full-time, year-round position in which apprentices are paid employees of Bates College. Opportunities to work part-time during the school year and full time upon graduation may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Those who successfully complete their apprenticeship will continue their employment at Bates College as an experienced plumber and will have completed the requirements set by the applicable state board and may sit for the State Journeyman test.

    This hands-on position provides direct support for an increasingly diverse Bates College community utilizing excellent customer service skills. Campus Safety Officers will engage and support students, guests and stakeholders from historically underrepresented groups including students of color, LGBTQAIP2+ students, international students, students with disabilities, first-generation college students, and the student organizations dedicated to supporting these students on campus. Additionally, Campus Safety Officers will develop strong partnerships with various campus offices and key stakeholders to ensure continued positive, long lasting relationships within the Bates Community. This position is considered “Essential Personnel” in the event that: an emergency occurs on the Bates Campus or in the vicinity that would impact Bates inclement weather forces the closing of campus  other emergency events deemed appropriate. Essential Personnel are required to report to or remain at work if instructed to do so if contacted directly by the supervisor (or his/her designee), the President or a member of the President’s Staff (Sr. Leadership Team.)

  • Transition to Practice Program - Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in Lewiston, ME

    The Bates Sports Medicine Department and Central Maine Healthcare have designed an eleven- month  Transition to Practice program to offer newly credentialed athletic training professionals an opportunity to broaden and enhance their clinical and professional skills as they continue to develop their practice. The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) supports intercollegiate athletics and is responsible for the care and wellbeing of student-athletes through the provision of athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment of training regimens, and treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals.  The ATC works directly with student-athletes to provide care, education, counseling, evaluation, treatment and rehab of athletic injuries and illnesses both on campus and at game venues.  The ATC must follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the Bates Athletic Department, NESCAC and NCAA.  The Office of Athletic Performance celebrates and honors difference, engages students of all backgrounds and strives to ensure accessible services for all student-athletes.
