Under general supervision of the Director of Administration for Planning, Operations, and Construction (POC), assist in managing departmental administrative responsibilities for POC by facilitating and implementing processes and procedures related to contract administration, project resource management, and stakeholder relationships.

Duties

  • In collaboration with General Counsel and Insurance and Risk Management, oversee the POC contracts team. Direct and execute the drafting, negotiation, and/or review of legal agreements and contracts for project management including, but not limited to, consultant and vendor services and agreements with architects and general contractors for guaranteed maximum price, stipulated sum, and design-build projects.
  • Support departmental senior leadership in the development and execution of departmental organizational planning, management reporting, and problem-solving. Produce goal, accomplishment, and task reports. Improve project resource tracking.
  • In coordination with the Director of Operations, oversee process development for POC and other University operations. Create and enforce policies and procedures for POC.
  • Collaborate and communicate with campus stakeholders (Facilities, Public Safety, University Events, Special Programs, Regulatory Affairs, Deans, Administrators, etc.) and University decision-makers as appropriate to ensure that all parties are well informed and that work proceeds on schedule with minimum adverse impacts to other campus departments and activities.
  • Support the departmental human resources liaison. Ensure departmental compliance with human resource and payroll requirements and coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding for DDC and POC.
  • Supervise the POC Administrative team.
  • Carry out other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for accurate updates to the capital projects forecast and cash flow model.
  • Uphold the Living Pepperdine standards in daily work; participate in Daily Line-Ups and be able to articulate how the standards apply to daily work.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: A Bachelor’s degree. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be approachable, listen to others, adaptable to different communication styles, creative, persuasive, and solution-oriented. Must demonstrate high analytical skills. A professional demeanor is required. Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred: A relevant advanced degree, such a Juris Doctorate (JD) is strongly preferred. Paralegal or other experience with contract administration is strongly preferred. Knowledge of design and construction project documentation, procedures, and protocols. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Well-qualified candidates will demonstrate an ability to analyze problems and provide potential solutions with clear implications.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $78,000 - $100,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
