Under the supervision of the Department Chair, adjunct faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with learning objectives. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions, based on need and availability in a geographical area. Pepperdine seeks individuals willing to contribute to the University and PGBS missions and to teach on various Pepperdine campuses, especially in Malibu and Calabasas.  Learn more about our programs on our website.

Duties

  • Maintain and enhance the quality of teaching in the program
  • Prepare interactive presentations/lessons for quality face-to-face or hybrid teaching
  • Work closely with the Department Chair and department colleagues
  • Participate in orientation and technology trainings
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
  • Provide substantive and ongoing feedback to students
  • Communicate student concerns to Program Office
  • Submit book orders, syllabi, class roster verifications, and grades on time 
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings; traveling as required to campus and other locations
  • Uphold the university mission through work performed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master’s degree in business or related field. College/university level teaching experience or working with adult learners. Familiarity with best practices for effective adult learning theory, content-specific pedagogy, and instructional practices. Technological aptitude and ability to acquire new skills quickly. Flexible schedule, availability during school hours, and ability to travel to specified site locations. Self-motivation, organization, openness to feedback, and aptitude in working independently. Professionalism and ability to work with faculty and students in a respectful manner. Skilled in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and online technology. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal, education, and employment screening. Qualified individuals with criminal histories will be considered for employment in compliance with applicable laws.

This is a Temporary, Exempt, 10-12 hour per week position with multiple openings. As this is a pooled position, applications will be reviewed on a rolling, as-needed basis.

Expected Pay Range: $2,092.50 - $2,500 per unit

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
