This position supports the associate dean for student and faculty development at Seaver College and serves as an important member of the dynamic administrative team in the office of the Dean of Seaver College. Responsibilities include daily support for the work of the associate dean, such as professional, positive interaction with students and faculty; correspondence by phone, email, and letter; planning events on and off campus; maintaining the associate dean’s calendar; scheduling appointments and committee meetings; timely submission of reimbursements and credit-card substantiation; taking minutes at meetings; coordinating student employment in the Faculty-Student Mentor Program; and assisting with special projects such as faculty orientation and mentoring, faculty development and community-building, grant and sabbatical application processes, and commencement.

Duties

  • Assist the Associate Dean in various tasks including but not limited to reimbursements and reallocation and substantiation of credit card charges, supporting faculty attendance at conferences, coordinating student employment for student development programs, and logistical support of the faculty dining room. 
  • Assist in event planning for events on and off campus, such as the new faculty retreat, new faculty orientation, sabbatical presentations, Center for Teaching Excellence workshops, adjunct appreciation week, SEED Seminars, and various other faculty-development and community-building events. 
  • Assist the Associate Dean for Student and Faculty Development with day-to-day activities, including maintaining the associate dean's calendar and appointments, selected community-events calendars, and relevant distribution lists. 
  • Assist the Seaver Dean''s office with day-to-day activities.
  • Schedule, attend, and/or take minutes for the International Programs Appeals Committee and other committees lead or attended by the Associate Dean.
  • Assist the Associate Dean in the annual renew and refresh of academic spaces project and with ongoing management of the Navigate student success app and analytics project. 
  • Assist with the Dean's office events when needed, including commencement, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist the Director of the Student Success Center and the Director of the Center for Teaching Experience with occasional projects, especially those that relate directly to the Associate Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $25.96 - $28.84 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
