Senior Lead Business Analyst, Human Resources & Payroll, leads major projects related to the University's PeopleSoft Human Resources area and serves as Senior Lead Business Analyst, Human Resources & Payroll primary contact for PeopleSoft HR production issues. Partners with PeopleSoft developers, other IT teams, and key University stakeholders to provide the Pepperdine community with a stable, secure, and easy to use PeopleSoft HR system. This is a fully remote position.

Duties

  • SUPPORT AND TRAINING: Serves as primary point of contact between the Pepperdine HR department and the EIS development team to assure the integrity and security of PeopleSoft HR data and processes. Provides production and operational support for the PeopleSoft HR system, escalating or collaborating with others to help in problem resolution as needed. Develops user test cases, supports testing, and validates test results during user acceptance testing. Investigates, resolves, and escalates problems. Monitors and assesses security standards within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, as well as maintains compliance with University security standards. On occasion, the incumbent will be expected to work outside of business hours to address outages or perform critical system testing. 
  • PLANNING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Works with supervisor and/or Sr. Director of EIS to establish priorities for the PeopleSoft Human Resources (HR) system. Partners with key University and school stakeholders to collect, analyze, and document business requirements and plan for system, application, and/or process improvement projects. Takes ownership of assigned projects and plays a proactive role toward the goal of project completion from start to finish. Works on project teams, creates/maintains documentation, records client discussions/agreements, and reports status of projects on a regular basis to supervisor, leadership, and/or stakeholders. Analyzes metrics to ensure customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations and provides input to project status reports. The Senior Lead Business Analyst coordinates with other ERP leads regarding software upgrades and other cross-module issues and policies. Works directly with production support issues. Collaborates with the Pepperdine HR, Payroll, other key departments, and the EIS team to assure the integrity and security of PeopleSoft HR data and processes as well as build a consensus on future HR projects, upgrades, and changes. 
  • RESEARCH, ANALYSIS, AND REPORTING: Conducts needs analysis and documents existing business or process requirements with constituents to identify opportunities for PeopleSoft Human Resources (HR) improvements or new projects. Maintains a high-level understanding of support requests (in-person, email, support ticket, etc.) to assist in trend analysis and identify enhancements to improve user experience and system performance/reliability. Evaluates PeopleSoft and industry trends, new/emerging technologies, and other application, system, or process solutions for consideration within IT or the University. Creates summaries or reports for colleagues, constituents, and/or supervisors to evaluate successes and opportunities for growth or improvement.
  • COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS: Promotes professionalism across the division to ensure that each staff member represents Pepperdine and IT in a professional manner when collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Conducts outreach to University stakeholders to determine needs and build strong, positive, and collaborative relationships. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with University departments and leadership, as well as with external vendors and service providers, to improve IT outcomes and to assure current and future operational and strategic success. Facilitates, coordinates, and directs the relationships between technical and operational staff, functional support staff within the administration and schools of Pepperdine University, and the implementation consulting partner; and serves as the official EIS Human Resources (HR) liaison with the University HR and other key University leadership. Provides regular updates to the Senior Director of EIS and key internal and external stakeholders regarding projects and production support status. 
  • COLLABORATION: Provides backup support and assistance to other team members. Collaborates with co-workers and University colleagues on departmental, division-wide, and institutional projects. Shares process information and makes informal recommendations on how to improve processes and overall job execution within the team/department. 
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Attends training sessions, vendor presentations, user group meetings, conferences, and seminars. Engages regularly in individual professional development related activities to remain current with industry technology trends and work processes. 
  • COMMITTEES AND BEYOND JOB DUTIES: Volunteers to undertake tasks that stretch the employee's capabilities. Serves on various committees within the Information Technology division. Participates in external University committees. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience and five (5) or more years of relevant technical and/or business work experience. Leadership skills, experience/in-depth knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes. Demonstrated ability to launch and deliver a single IT project on time and within budget.

Strong organizational skills and business process improvement skills. Ability to manage multiple projects for numerous clients simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to lead a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain relationships, networks, and alliances. Strong project management skills. Basic knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred: Two (2) years of experience with PeopleSoft Human Resources 9.2. Three (3) or more years of higher education experience as a functional staff person providing support, coordination of, or direction for university processes related to PeopleSoft Human Resources. PeopleSoft Human Resources as it relates to Administer Workforce, Position Management, Base Benefits, Payroll North America, and Project Management. PeopleSoft Human Resources, PS Query, SQL Database Systems.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position

Expected Pay Range: $92,650 - $109,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
