The Assistant Director will work with the Director of Ministry Outreach to plan Harbor (the annual Bible lectures) and will oversee the execution of required tasks to conduct the annual conference. The Assistant Director will also oversee the departmental operations associated with managing communications and budget planning.

Duties

  • Assist the Director of Ministry Outreach in the planning of Harbor. Coordinate with other departments within Church Relations to design the schedule, registration site, classes, speakers, and extracurricular events for Harbor.
  • Oversee the execution of required tasks related to hosting the annual conference including housing for guests, transportation of guests while on campus, internal and external communications, budget management for the event, room assignments for classes, coordination of food services, and management of student workers.
  • Oversee full data analysis of general departmental operations, such as budget management, communications, and department events.
  • Supervise full and part time support staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with surrounding Churches of Christ, familiarizing each of Pepperdine's Christian Mission, and provide knowledge of the Church Relations department.
  • Help oversee the facilitation and execution of E2 Events when called upon, such as speaker planning, event management, and scheduling.
  • Oversee the communication with IMC, and help create a marketing strategy to be used to promote Harbor, E2, and other departmental events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of project leadership experience, proven ability to create systems and organize forms for events.
  • Demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University is required for this position.
  • 3+ years of office management experience.
  • Exceptional project management, organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Basic accounting skills, writing and editing skills, membership in and knowledge of Churches of Christ.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and with Google programs (Docs, Calendar, etc.)

Preferred

  • 5+ years of administrative experience, event management experience, event planning or project management certification preferred
  • Strong communication skills across various platforms, including social media, email, and phone.
  • Creative and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • High levels of initiative and a proactive approach to work.
  • Advanced accounting skills.
  • General office familiarity with printers, scanners, copiers, phone systems, etc. Desktop and mobile computing functionality.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $69,000 - $72,000 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
