Under general supervision of the Vice President of Planning, Operations, and Construction (POC), directs daily planning, operations, coordination, and personnel issues for POC. Manages evaluation and implementation of processes for University projects of all sizes, including resource allocation. Oversees processes and procedures related to space management. Work in close partnership with the Director of Facilities Services and the DDC Project Director to represent the full Owner interest in construction projects. Represent strategic priorities to Planning, Operations, and Construction.

Duties

  • Responsible for the short-term and long-term organization, development, review, prioritization, and analysis of project administration and completion. Manages project resource tracking, scheduling, and temporary reallocations.
  • Oversee all personnel and human resource activities for over 130 employees within POC, the Department of Design and Construction (DDC), and the Department of Facilities Services (DFS). Oversees human resource needs of the departments, from recruitment to termination, in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Oversee departmental communication and assignment of departmental tasks.
  • Lead the University's efforts on space planning and space use requests.
  • Supervise the Executive Homes Liaison and Project Coordinator to ensure excellent service to executive home owners and project coordination assistance to the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) Project Director, in conjunction with DDC project managers and DFS managers, in fulfilling project requests.
  • Develop position descriptions, manages job postings and applications, facilitates hiring of employees, plans and coordinates candidate evaluations and interviews, attends candidate interviews for key positions, oversees changes in employment and termination. Prepares human resource forms and paperwork including annual PARs for restricted employees.
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures for POC. Ensure policy, process, and databases are generally cohesive, consistent, and effective in supporting the University's mission, goals, and strategic plan.
  • Oversee project process document control and maintains the Facilities Modification Policy.
  • Direct and integrate the administrative procedures to effectively serve both Facilities Services and Design and Construction teams.

  • Serve as a key member of the University's Emergency Operations Committee (EOC), helping to lead and manage emergency response efforts, and fulfill responsibilities as designated Critical Support Personnel (CSP) during emergencies and campus disruptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold the Living Pepperdine standards in daily work; participate in Daily Line-Ups and be able to articulate how the standards apply to daily work. Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of design and construction project documentation, procedures, and protocols.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills with an emphasis on managing multiple tasks, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and meet required deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Project (MS Project) and other project management program(s).

Preferred:

  • Master's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in higher education, facilities, or construction management.
  • Familiarity with University policies, processes, and procedures.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $114,000 - $135,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
