Pepperdine University’s College of Health Science (PCHS) is seeking a qualified and motivated Event Manager. The Event Manager will support the strategic planning, production, management, and execution for PCHS events related to student recruitment and admission, student ceremonies, advisory board/council meetings, orientation programs, and a wide range of student and faculty events. The position will oversee all logistical aspects of event execution, ensure consistent PCHS and Pepperdine University branding, sound fiscal management, adherence to stated timelines, and high quality outcomes.

The manager will report to the Dean of the College of Health Science and be expected to work collaboratively with faculty and staff across the PCHS and University.

The event manager will need to be adaptable to work evening and weekend hours, as required, to oversee all PCHS events.

Duties

  • Responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of event management from inception through post-event assessment for the PCHS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Organize and lead all event logistics including: planning, venue selection; personnel; registrations; vendor management and contracts; catering; preparing event materials such as name tags, place cards, programs, and gifts/swag; managing linens; AV needs, handling event decor and design; set-up/tear down; and providing excellent customer service to event participants.
    • Manage and execute event budgets to ensure high-quality and cost effective events.
    • Collaborate with the University Integrated Marketing and Communications team to oversee event promotion, branding, and the development of event-related printed materials, invitations, programs, etc.
    • Develop and enforce procedures and practices to ensure quality and safety standards for events.
    • Create and maintain an organized, accessible, electronic system of documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with University policy, and state, federal regulations.
    • Serve as the primary contact for event hosts, speakers, and VIP guests, ensuring a seamless and professional experience. 
  • Assist PCHS leadership in developing, managing, and communicating with college and school boards, advisory councils, and related support and affinity groups. 
  • Work in partnership and support of the Pepperdine Advancement event team on large scale PCHS events that involve University stakeholders.
  • Seek out innovative and creative ideas for events through research, networking, and continuing education classes. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Exceptional organizational skill, with a proven ability to multitask and manage several events simultaneously
  • Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient computing skills, include knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to include nights and weekends

Preferred:

  • One or more years of event management experience
  • Prior experience working in an educational or healthcare environment
  • A record of outstanding professional performance.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $26.82 - $29.80 per hour 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
