Pepperdine University's Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, located in Malibu, California, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Sports Medicine – Biomechanics/Neuromechanics beginning August 1, 2026. Applicants who will have a completed Ph.D. by August 1, 2026 in biomechanics, neuroscience, or closely related fields will be considered while candidates with post-doctoral experience are preferred. Seaver College places the total development of students at the heart of its educational strategy and seeks scholar-educators who demonstrate exceptional interest and effectiveness in teaching, a commitment to establishing a productive research program, and desire to mentor undergraduate students in both teaching and research. Successful candidates will actively contribute to a rigorous curriculum in the exercise sciences, with demonstrated doctoral/postdoctoral preparation for teaching undergraduate coursework in biomechanics as well as at least one other area within exercise science/kinesiology such as biostatistics, neuroscience, exercise physiology, functional anatomy, and  kinesiology. In addition to teaching expectations, candidates are expected to establish a productive research program that involves undergraduate students. Current research interests in the department include human performance in hypoxia, nutritional considerations for elite athletes, exercise during the perinatal period, and motor-control adapted populations. Well-equipped exercise science laboratories are available for teaching and research. Scholarly collaboration among Sports Medicine faculty as well as with faculty from other disciplines (e.g., biology, nutrition, chemistry, physics, etc.) is encouraged.

This is a Full-Time, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $90,174 - $96,257 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
