LCRA has is looking for an upbeat, passionate and hard-working Senior Engineer in the Substation Engineering Electrical design group. This is an outstanding opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects that greatly influence the community. As a key contributor on our team, you will lead the physical design of substations, ensuring flawless execution and alignment to industry standards. You will have a unique opportunity to be involved in the whole lifecycle of substation design projects from planning and conceptual design to detailed design, construction, and operations and maintenance. Your expertise will be crucial in developing substation design, grounding, shielding, and following IEEE, NESC, RUS and other industry substation design standards and guidelines. You will be trusted to:

- Provides engineering designs work for substation engineering projects for new and existing installations applying standard designs, department procedures and engineering standard methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, RUS, and other relevant industry standards.
- Coordinate the grounding and shielding design to ensure the safety and reliability of substation operations.
- Work closely with other engineers, project managers, and collaborators to successfully implement design solutions.
- Conduct rigorous technical assessments and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Prepare detailed documentation and reports to support project planning and execution.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

You qualify with:

- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas plus eight or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job, including providing technical leadership in engineering.  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
- Extensive experience working on large-scale, high-impact substation projects including site selection, substation configuration, permitting and regulatory, bus design, grounding and ground grid design, lightning and shielding protection, major substation equipment, expansion and upgrade of existing substations
- Strong knowledge of IEEE, NESC and RUS electrical substation standards.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to strictly adhere to project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- A track record of successfully implementing innovative engineering solutions.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Knowledge of CAD software, grounding and shielding software, and other substation engineering design related tools.
