At LCRA, we are seeking to find a motivated and skilled Power Plant Control Room Operator to join our mission critical team! This is a pivotal role that would operate gas power plant boiler, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment to produce electric power. In this role you will communicate and coordinate work activities with LCRA's Generation Desk (GenDesk) to meet generation demand load requirements. This position uses in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services. We would expect this candidate to take a new perspective to tackle complex problems. In this role you would work independently, receive minimal guidance and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. It's imperative that you would be able to communicate effectively with team members, management and external organizations under normal and emergency conditions. You will be trusted to:

- Operate control room including startup and shutdown of steam boilers, turbines and auxiliary equipment.
- Coordinate operation of the gas power plant boiler, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment to meet the needs of the system.
- Monitor operation and status of all unit systems on a continuous basis. Keeps systems within proper parameters.

You qualify with:

- Five or more years of experience in power plant operations or power plant maintenance, including at least one year operating the unit control board with little or no supervision and including at least one unit startup and at least one unit shutdown or relevant experience. A degree(s) in power plant operations or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.   
- Successful completion through Level IV of the plant operations curriculum of the Power Plants' Craft Qualification Program substitutes for five years of experience.

You are a great fit with:

-Experience in traditional drum gas-fired thermal steam units
-Experience in combined cycle gas CTs, HRSG, and steam turbine
-Experience in Simple Cycle aero-derivative LM6000 peaker plants
-Ability to understand and follow operating procedures/guidelines, safety and environmental rules and regulations
