LCRA is searching for an expert Network Systems Engineer Lead to plan, design, install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and WLAN systems for IT operations. Our role involves designing network architecture, implementing new solutions, performing capacity planning, and addressing network risks. Some of the responsibilities include network management, software maintenance, applying patches and hardware changes, handling escalations, evaluating new products and services, and managing vendor agreements. You will be trusted to:
- Lead project groups involving internal and external business partners. - Provide mentorship and guidance to direct the work of other staff members. - Design, install, and troubleshoot networks incorporating routers, multilayer switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks. - Possess the ability to develop and implement long-term network strategies aligned with business objectives - Monitor, analyze, and review multi-platform computing environments proactively and execute problem avoidance practices to maintain high reliability and availability. - Identify cost-effective network solutions that meet strict security and availability requirements. - Resolve issues causing network outages, including identifying problems with hardware, operating systems, applications, and capacity. - Own problems through to resolution, analyzing issues and taking actions to resolve them with minimal guidance (including Root Cause Analysis and Problem Remediation). - Draft, update, and follow detailed work instructions related to network maintenance. - Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to others while working with vendors, documenting best practices, and configuring network tools. - Document changes made to systems or equipment through appropriate communications and record keeping practices. Record work into logs, files, system prints, and other records and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other team members and supervisors.
You qualify with:
- Ten or more years of experience in designing and/or operating networks or relevant experience. A degree(s) in information technology, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
You are a great fit with:
- Demonstrated Knowledge of LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, VRF, Citrix Load Balancing, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Arista Switching. - Proficiency in network platforms and protocols: Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Arista EOS, DCI, MPLS, virtualization, overlays (VXLAN/OTV), OSPF, BGP, VRF, DNS, and DHCP. - Experience in Data Center Network Architecture. - Knowledge of data center migrations, VRF migration, VX LAN implementations. - Proficiency in Cisco ASA to Palo Alto firewall migrations. - Experienced with management tools such as Solarwinds Orion and Infoblox. - Experience with Azure cloud technologies. - Proficiency in network automation tools and platforms. - Skilled in analyzing and solving complex problems. - Experience in IT/OT environments is advantageous. - Verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to communicate with team members, management, and external organizations in normal and emergency conditions. - Intermediate proficiency in office applications (email, word processing, spreadsheets). - Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. - Team building and teamwork skills. - Capability to manage competing high-priority tasks. - Cisco CCIE or comparable certifications preferred.
