The Mount Holyoke College Computer Science Department invites applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position, to begin in the fall of 2023. We are searching broadly for candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, a vibrant research program that can engage undergraduates, and a passion for working with a diverse population of students. Mount Holyoke's teaching load is 4 courses per year. We welcome applications in all specialties, particularly systems, theory and data science. 

Computer science is one of the top majors at Mount Holyoke. The department currently has 7 permanent and 2 visiting faculty as well as 5 staff, including lab instructors and a sysadmin, and courses are matched to instructors based on individual interests and expertise. Faculty teach core courses across the computer science curriculum and have the opportunity to develop new courses. Typically, class sizes range from 15 - 30 students, and introductory courses are supported by a lab instructor and an established peer mentorship program. The department is actively involved in the growing interdisciplinary Data Science major and recently established 8,000 sqft makerspace. In addition, collaborations with other programs at Mount Holyoke and other institutions in the Five College Consortium are ongoing and encouraged, including: Entrepreneurship, Organizations & Society; Psychology; Mathematics & Statistics; Neuroscience; Biology; Chemistry; and Arts & Technology. 

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of strong teaching at the undergraduate level and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. Completion of a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (e.g., Cognitive Science, Computational Biology, Computational Social Science, Data Science, Informatics, or STEM Education) is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
