North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Teacher in Coeur d’Alene. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Classroom Teacher to support a high-quality early childhood education experience that aligns with Head Start’s mission and goals.
As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll help create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment. You will participate in classroom instruction, assist with curriculum planning and implementation, and help conduct child assessments and screenings. You’ll support individual children with daily needs, including feeding and toileting, and step into a lead role when the Classroom Teacher is absent. This position also contributes to program operations, professional development, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism in both classroom and community settings. You should be comfortable using common computer software and data systems, and bring a supportive, inclusive approach to early childhood development and services.

Work Schedule: up to 19.5 hours per week, Aug-June

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Level I: Have a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.
Level II: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development.
Experience
Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
Required License and/or Certifications:
• Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
• Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Meet terms of Statement of Agreement/ Employment Declaration.
• Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and proof of degree if required for this position.
