The Opportunity

A Level A academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university, particularly at undergraduate and graduate diploma level, and to carry out activities to develop her/his scholarly, research, and/or professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline, under the Ph.D. Assistant Lecturer (PAL) Scheme.

The PAL scheme offered by the School of Information Technology provides outstanding candidates a career pathway to gain formal teaching experience, develop a research track record while completing a Ph.D. study at Monash University Malaysia in one of the strategic research areas, and engage in a growing and vibrant university environment. Successful completion of the 4 year PAL scheme will equip the incumbent with skills, experience, and confidence to embark on a long-term academic career.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the delivery of innovative and excellent teaching, learning, and assessment experiences for undergraduate students
  2. Contribute to research activities within the School, starting to develop a publication record by registering for a full-time Ph.D. with Monash, making the timely progression of milestones, and submitting the Ph.D. thesis in a timely manner.
  3. Provide support for collaborations with other universities and with government, industry, and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence
  4. Support the management of education, research, administration, and marketing in the School
  5. Support the School in OBE and accreditation matters, as required

Key Selection Criteria:

Education/Qualifications

  1.  A master's qualification in computer science, information technology, or relevant field
  2.    *Able to meet the minimum entry requirements for PhD:.at least four years of a bachelor's degree with research components, leading to first-class or second-class upper-division, master's degree with a significant research component, including a thesis, leading to first-class or second-class upper division
  3. Demonstrated ability and interest to teach in a university environment
  4. Potential and commitment to produce excellent research leading to Ph.D. degree
  5. Interest and passion to engage with students
  6. Demonstrated teamwork skills
  7. Eligible to register with the MBOT as a Professional Technologist
  8. Eligible to obtain a teaching permit from the Ministry of Higher Education
