Job Summary/Basic Functions

An Online Academic Advisor provides academic advising to students within their respective college and assigned programs. Online Academic Advisors focus on on-boarding new students, creating academic plans and goals with the student, and enrollment through comprehensive knowledge of the institution's programs, academic requirements, and support services. Excellent student service, feedback, communication, and record keeping skills, are essential skills, all to promote student success and retention

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred

Experience: Two years of related work experience in marketing, customer service, or related fields within higher education.

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Advise and provide retention services for assigned online students for the purpose of assisting them in establishing an academic plan and positive and effective strategies that will lead to success. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Conduct New Student On-Boarding - (Essential)
  • 15% - Conduct Problem Solving and Troubleshooting - (Essential)
  • 10% - Ensure effective administration and reporting of assigned online degree programs. - (Essential)
  • 10% - University and Department Collaboration - (Essential)
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned - (Essential)
