Job Summary

The Director of Human Resources is a leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the institution. This position plays a critical role in developing and implementing strategies, policies, and programs that support the college’s mission, vision, and values. The Director collaborates with executive management to align HR initiatives with the college’s strategic objectives.

Job Duties

  • Strategic HR Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for human resources that align with the college's overall goals and objectives.
  • Policy Development: Enforce HR policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns and promoting a fair and inclusive work environment.
  • Workforce Planning and Recruitment: Develop workforce planning strategies to ensure the college has a qualified and diverse workforce. Oversee recruitment efforts, including job postings, applicant screening, and selection processes.
  • Talent Management: Implement talent management initiatives, including performance management, employee development, succession planning, and career advancement programs.
  • Compensation and Benefits: administration of the college’s compensation and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, develop training programs, and facilitate employee development opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • HR Information Systems: Oversee the management and optimization of the systems used by HR, ensuring accurate and secure data management.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure HR practices comply with relevant state and federal laws and regulations. Mitigate HR-related risks and maintain appropriate record-keeping processes.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop and execute strategies to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the HR department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively. - (Essential)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, practices, laws, and regulations. With proven experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, and investigations. 
  • Extensive experience in HR management, including at least 10 years in a leadership role; preferably in higher education. 
  • Experience as Agency Benefits Coordinator with extensive use of Edison and other state & TBR benefit systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of workforce planning, talent management, and employee development. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
