Summer 2026 Madison Advising Peer - General MAP Program - IE Harrisonburg
University Advising’s well-respected Madison Advising Peers (MAP) program consists of undergraduate peer advisors who are trained to provide supplemental academic advising for JMU students in conjunction with faculty and full-time academic advisors. Madison Advising Peers are a friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable resource for their fellow students and are committed to helping them achieve their college goals. MAPs are selected based on a formal interview, academic record, experience, and attitude. This offer of employment is contingent on budget availability. This position will work up to 20 hours a week in person during Summer 2026 (end of May to early August) with the main Madison Advising Peers office in the Student Success Center 4045, serving all students at JMU.

University Writing Center Graduate Assistant - Digital Specialist Harrisonburg
The University Writing Center (UWC), one of the Learning Centers programs, is an academic support resource that assists JMU students, faculty, and staff on their writing through appointment-based consultations, course workshops, and online resources. The bulk of our work is the writing consultations that are conducted either online or in person in the Learning Centers space on the first floor of the Student Success Center that employ a collaborative peer education model. Graduate Assistants work up to 20 hours per week with the following being the expected breakdown: 10 weekly hours of writing consultation, 5 weekly hours of center administration/work on a self-directed project and 5 weekly hours allotted for meetings and email correspondence.
