About the Role

Reporting to DSS Construction Assessment & Delivery Senior Manager this is a pivotal role within the Service Futures portfolio. As the DSS Construction Assessment & Delivery Area Manager you will be responsible for managing the delivery of all assets within the Development Services Schemes (DSS).

  • Lead team to deliver a program of works that comply with Melbourne Water’s financial and asset standards.
  • Manage customer relationships by meeting our agreed service timeframes and being the first escalation point for customer complaints to the team.
  • Provide technical input to complex design assessments and cost variations.
  • Lead and develop people.
  • Manage and reduce key business risks, including accountability for forecasting of the team’s capital projects, ensuring projects are finalised in a timely manner and are transferred to the asset owners as soon as practicable so that assets can be included in programmed maintenance.
  • Work with the other Area & Regional Managers and Senior Manager(s) to ensure performance, standards and expectations are consistent between all staff members.

About you:

  • Strong Leadership mind-set with the ability to drive and engage high performing teams.
  • Previous extensive experience in decision making in complex Civil engineering related area of work
  • Knowledge and understating in Waterway Design / Flood Resilience / Integrated Water Management / Stormwater across engineering projects
  • Ability to lead change and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders’
  • High-level communication, relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills

This role requires you to hold an Engineering Registration or have the required qualifications and experience to obtain one.
