About The Role

Reporting to the Manager Sewerage Innovation and Resource Recovery, this is a full time, 18 month fixed term role within the One Water team. As the Senior Process Engineer you will be responsible for developing and implementing key sewerage service initiatives, necessary to inform the sewerage system strategic plans, ensure long-term regulatory compliance and pursue opportunities in support of service outcomes.

  • Lead role in holistic planning for Melbourne Water’s wholesale sewerage services including recycled water, integration with metropolitan water company sewerage services, and other water services. Leading activities relevant to enterprise goals related to sewerage services.
  • Building and managing both internal and external relationships related to sewerage services including recycled water, drive effective collaboration to support the development of initiatives, long term planning and strategy, as well as ensuring the team is well positioned to positively influence activities that impact delivery of obligations and achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Identifying, investigating, evaluating (including development of concept designs and trials/pilots where required), and supporting development of business cases for potential future capital assets, operational activities, planning controls, and other initiatives that could contribute to managing the sewerage service.
  • Providing clear, evidence-based advice to internal and external stakeholders, in relation to the sewerage service.
  • Maintaining a sound understanding of trends in local and international sewerage system, sewage treatment practices regulation and policy to inform medium – long term plans.
  • Managing external service providers, technical consultants and contractors.
  • Managing budgets accurately and contributing information to support business.

About You

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in Engineering, or equivalent. 
  • Strong understanding of strategy development and long-term planning.
  • Strong knowledge of sewerage systems and sewage treatment.
  • Significant experience fostering cross-organisation and cross-industry collaboration for sewerage/recycled water initiatives.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing initiatives, strategies, and plans.
  • Expertise and technical leadership skills in sewerage services,  especially in recycled water, energy and decarbonisation. 
  • Demonstrated capability to confidently, professionally, and persuasively communicate detailed technical information to a range of audiences including senior executive and board level stakeholders, in both written and oral formats.
  • Current VIC drivers licence required.
