About The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Performance & Analytics, this is a full-time, permanent position within the Finance team. As a Finance Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting critical aspects of the Finance Division, leveraging your analytical expertise to deliver both BAU activities and ad hoc projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading complex financial management activities aligned with business requirements.
  • Driving the identification, design, and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners through analysis, reporting, and strategic collaboration.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Managing month-end processes, performance monitoring, and reporting in line with Melbourne Water policies, procedures, and strategic priorities.

About You

  • Strong understanding of both financial and management accounting principles, including monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and the impact of key financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, management accounting practices, auditing, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Proven ability in financial modelling.
  • Experience in analysing large datasets using Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools, with Power BI experience highly regarded.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting software systems; TechOne experience is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, coupled with a high level of customer service when engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
