As our next Asset Specialist - Planning reporting to the Asset Lead - Planning you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Plan and schedule long-term maintenance for all APAC mobile plant and equipment determined by the Strategies set in the Thiess JDE MMA to ensure the equipment fleet achieves maximum availability through managed component supply and repair facility availability. 
  • Deliver the Thiess APAC Long Term Planning Monthly Commitments through the Long Term Planning Team and onto relevant sites
  • Assist and Advice Site based planners as required for developing planning strategies
  • Check component change out information integrity in JDE MMA prior to placing orders 
  • Receipt Ordered goods into JDE, Pack Goods into ‘Site Job Lots’ ready for dispatch if required
  • Travel to site as required for Long Term Planning purposes
  • Liaise with the Asset Lead – Planning APAC to monitor, review and update Fleet Reliability processes
  • Support Reliability processes implemented by the Asset Reliability Team
  • Understand operational factors that can impact the planning process
  • Re-prioritise planned work where necessary to meet operational requirements
  • Monitor diagnostic and condition monitoring activities when needed to determine planned maintenance work required
  • Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of maintenance work through enhanced planning practices and new technologies
  • Continually liaise with suppliers and OEM’s to identify improvement opportunities
  • Communicate innovations and improvements to key stakeholders in relation to long term maintenance planning
  • Follow the Thiess Change Management Process for all proposed changes to Asset Strategies & or Design Registration


What skills and experience do you need?

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/ experience
  • Experience in maintenance operations with large mining equipment
  • Experience in scheduling and planning maintenance activities for large mining equipment (desirable)
  • Experience in Maintenance Warehousing and Inventory management processes (desirable)
  • Experience supervising crews in a maintenance environment is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Competent in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. JDE)
  • Knowledge of contract management, including subcontractors
  • Highly Effective communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders and influence outcomes
