About the role

The primary purposes of the role are:

  • Ability to analyze each mining operation as a system (regardless of complexity) and determine the critical value drivers and devise a strategy which maximizes return from both a Thiess and a Client (where possible) perspective.  Ability to apply this analysis across the business concurrently.
  • The application of technical and operational knowledge to develop sound and accurate tenders and assist projects solve challenges and improve performance.
  • Manage and coordinate internal (and some external) specialists, proposals, studies, and tenders from Gate 1 through to Gate 4, including TRMC submissions, tender handovers, and client feedback for unsuccessful tenders.
  • Manage new services development projects from scoping and design to development of appropriate business plans.
  • Support the development of prospect value propositions, project delivery models and partner selections.
  • Support the expansion of Thiess’ footprint through best practice and cost-effective outcomes for our Clients.


About you

Formal Education: Tertiary qualification in Mining or Engineering discipline

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in mining or mining related field with experience in development of projects from concept to contract execution, the majority of which must have been in Chile.
  • Demonstrated experience preferred in: Mine engineering and Proposal, study or tender management.


Technical Skills:

  • Advanced skills in MS Office 365 software.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Project.
  • Good understanding of various mine planning software packages.
  • Good understanding of CATS estimating software package.
  • Good understanding of contract law.
  • Basic accounting and finance knowledge.
