The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mine Surveyor to join our team at Curragh North Project, Blackwater. The site offers a positive workplace while getting the opportunity to develop yourself in the surveying space.
About The Role
Working a 8/6 roster and reporting to the Technical Services Manager your duties will include:

Ensure all relevant characteristics and dimensions of mine site terrain are calculated and documented.

Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).

Complete excavation and dump pick-ups regularly to provide constructed models of relevant area or as required.

Review existing survey set out requirements to streamline layout requirements and costs.

Conduct regular stockpile surveys to monitor and reconcile the amount of mined coal and available coal, check for discrepancies between truck load reports and train load reports.

Monitor topsoil stockpiles and provide volumes for topsoil available for rehabilitation in future.
- Conduct EOM pickups and volume calculations
Additionally, you will:

Standardise site machine guidance systems for dozers and implement an operator competency program.

Set out designs and provide advice to operators to ensure the excavation process complies with the mine plan.

Calculate the batter angles for different machines to ensure operations are completed according to the design batter angle.

Measure out drill preparation limits, drill areas, ramps and roads with pegs for various operations including grade control.

Calculate volumes to allow accurate analysis of performing or underperforming machines.

Provide accurate and efficient surveys of coal seam roof and floors to allow for accurate recording of mined coal, overall progress of coal mined and remaining reserves.

Assist in monitoring high wall stability and maintain records of high wall information as per the Geotechnical Principal Hazard Management Plan (PHMP) Provide comprehensive geospatial information to allow accident investigators to determine what factors may have influenced an accident.

Maintain and provide statutory plans detailing all required information.

Record final position of explosives on permanent plans and survey blasted material once blast is complete ensuring calculations are completed for expansion of the material.

Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.

Integrate survey data with information mining engineers, geologist and other relevant staff.

Maintain and update the survey digital database and ensure a stable communication and reporting system exists for the storage and transfer of all survey information
About You
- Experience in a Mine Surveying environment
- Keen and positive attitude
- Experience working at a large scale open cut mining operation
- Tertiary qualification in surveying or equivalent
- Understanding of mining principles, design concepts and operations (particularly their relation to survey activities)
- Hold the following Coal Mining Industry Competencies RIIRIS301A, RIICOM301B, RIIOHS301A
- Proficient in MS Office and mine surveying packages
- Established writing, mathematical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 (Qld) and Surveyors Act 2003 (Qld
