About the Role

Launched in 2017 as a pioneering greenfield operation, Mount Pleasant Operation has rapidly evolved into a world-class project, setting benchmarks in mining excellence. Reporting to the HST Manager, the Health, Safety, Training Superintendent provides advice and support to all management and employees at Mount Pleasant Operation. You will ensure a framework of policies, procedures and auditing to maintain internal and external compliance. This is a Monday to Friday role, with call outs when required. 

The role consists of: 

  • Ensuring all incidents are reported in accordance with project procedures and the Health and Safety Management Plan. 

  • Contributing to achievement of safety performance targets. 

  • Actively participating in safety initiatives and risk identification processes. 

  • Engaging with the project operational leaders to develop improvement programs and initiatives that drive a healthy, safe and respectful workplace. 

  • Manage direct reports to execute the planned work to ensure project performance targets are achieved.  

  • Leading and participating in event investigations, including the development of reports (Simple, DIR and/or ICAM) including actions to prevent recurrence. 

  • Lead and participate in the implementation of health safety and training initiatives, programs and campaigns. 

  • Facilitation of injury management and return to work programs for site personnel. 

  • (MPO Baseline Risk Assessment). 

  • Research, develop and facilitate awareness, new and refresher educational presentations and assessment (if required). 

 

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and understanding of day-to-day operations in an open-cut mining (people, equipment, high risk work) 

Additionally you will: 

  • Hold minimum Cert IV Health and Safety or similar related field  

  • Hold Cert IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor  

  • Familiar with legislation – WHS (M&P) Act and Regulations, Order 45 and Workers Compensation and Order 34 Training Scheme 

  • Have extensive experience in health and safety and training roles including leading and growing functional teams 

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and site systems 

  • Have superior planning, data management and record keeping 

  • Work collaboratively with negotiation and influence whilst holding people to account
